All of the toll stations listed here are state run facilities. This means that the king receives all of the proceeds if run by a royal official or he
may farm out the station for a fixed sum each year. The amount a toll station was farmed for would depend on the route it controlled and the amount of
traffic using the route. Toll stations along secondary roads away from any center of trade would be lucky to earn £5 per annum; whereas the toll
stations astride the major trade routes could see incomes over £50 per annum.
Toll stations placed at a kingdom's borders areas are best situated to act as collectors of the kings customs duties on imports and exports. If you have
such a system built into your game then anyone crossing these check points would have to pay the customs fees and may face scrutiny if coming from a
region known to be hostile to the kingdom.
