Generating the Manorial Household

HârnManor

Generating the Manorial Household Using HârnManor

You need the following materials for this process

  • Manor Budget Form (MBF), you can find these online at Lýthia.com
  • Pencil and scratch paper
  • Dice (1d6 x 5, 1d10, 1d20 x 2)
  • Calculator if you need one

Determine the number of each class within the manorial household

Using the table on Manor 17, determine the recommended number of the following classes based on the manor's gross acres.

Nobles
Fiefholder, Spouse, Offspring (2+), and Relatives (1+)
Servants
Chamberlain, Cook, Alewife, plus one Domestic per noble
Craftsmen
The most popular bonded craftsmen at the manorial level are: Clothier, Ostler, Priest, and Herald. Other craftsmen listed are uncommon in all but the richest of manors.
Military
Most lords rely on Yeomen to police and defend the fief, but Men-at-Arms have status and can be substituted as desired. The bracketed numbers given are Yeomen and these are NOT counted in the Household total. Ivinian households favor huscarls (house- warriors) over Yeomen.

Remember, these are only suggestions. You can have as few or as many members in the household as you desire. The more you have the more money it cost you and if you have few the less you pay for support

Populate your household

  • If this a manor held by the lord himself, then use the fiefholder identification. If it is held by a bailiff, then enter the bailiff identification.
  • Using Manor 18 through Manor 21 populate your household using the numbers generated above as a guide.
  • Enter the identity of each member, how many, their support cost, and the total support cost for each type.

Generate an ML for each identification

Mastery Level
5d6 + 50
Family members of the fiefholder add +20 to their loyalty roll
Loyalty maximum is 95

Generate a loyalty score for each identification

Loyalty
